James S. Simpson, 79, of Godfrey, passed away at 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at home.
He was born on March 23, 1935, in St. Louis, the son of the late F. Stanley Simpson and Anne Meehan Simpson.
On Feb. 3, 1967, he married Barbara Allhoff at St. Joseph’s Church in Clayton, Mo.
Jim enjoyed spending time with Barbara playing bridge, traveling, fine dining, as well as the monthly meeting with his Marquette class of ’53.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by two sons, Matthew Simpson (Monika Trzcinska) of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Doug Simpson (Laura Taylor) of Valley Village, Calif.; two grandsons, Daniel Trzcinski Simpson and Ziggy Taylor Simpson; one brother, Richard (Diane Springman) Simpson of Unionville, Conn.; two nephews, Robert “Chip” Daniels and Robert “Rob” Higgins; and a niece, Susan Harris.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Stanley Simpson; and three sisters, Lois Daniels, Mary Higgins, and Rita Simpson.
Private memorial service will follow at a later date. Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is in charge of arrangements.
