Janice Y. Minder, 77, of Granite City, died at 2:07 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born March 5, 1937, in Hunter, Ark., a daughter of the late William and Louise (Clark) Wright.
Janice retired from Walgreens after more than 25 years of dedicated service as a bookkeeper. She was an avid reader and cherished being a grandmother. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by five children, Denise Haynes of Granite City, Neva Ragan of Granite City, April Spain of Tennessee, Richard Powderly Jr. of Mitchell and David Powderly of Granite City; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Essenpreis of Mitchell; one brother and sister-in-law, Nyle Wayne and Marilyn Wright of Mitchell; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Powderly; a brother, Leonard Wright; a sister, Vickie Eckert; and a brother-in-law, Mike Essenpreis.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, with the Rev. Jesse Tedder officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
