Jean Elizabeth Elmore, 84, of East Alton, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 26, 2015 at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Granite City, the daughter to the late Andrew C. and Vera (Timmons) Carey.
Jean was an active volunteer at The Community Hope Center.
On June 17, 1950, she and Raymond E. Elmore were married in Mitchell. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1996.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond E. and Jane Elmore of East Alton, Andrew K. and Beth Elmore of Fenton, Mo., and Edward F. and Lisa Elmore of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Zachary, Drew, Katelyn, Jenna, Christopher and Ashley Elmore; and a sister, Jo Ann Zotti of Granite City.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Paynic Home for Funerals. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. James Flach as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
