Jean Marie (Marks) Grames, 87, of Alton, passed away at 1:53 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born in Elkhart, Ind., on Jan. 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles A. and C. Edna (Pletcher) Marks.
She married Robert E. Grames on June 26, 1949, in Elkhart, Ind. He preceded her in death in March of 1995.
Jean lived in the Riverbend area for 40 years and attended the Godfrey 1st United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Ronald and Lynn Grames of Florissant, Mo., Arthur and Linda Grames of Godfrey, and Charles and Sandra Grames, of St. Charles, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a companion of 10 years, Walter Sale in June of 2014; three brothers, Donald Marks, Richard Marks and Charles Marks Jr; and three sisters Wilma Chester, Lorene Verberkmoes and Kathleen Lyerla.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. May 15, 2015, at the Godfrey 1st United Methodist Church.
