Jean Metz, 84, of South Roxana, passed away at 3:42 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 22, 1932, in Advance, Mo., the daughter of the late Raleigh and Opal (McKee) Cox. She married Leto John Metz on Aug. 4, 1950, in South Roxana and he preceded her in death June 4, 2006. Survivors include her children, Lee and Nancy of Bethalto, Lynn and Jim of Edwardsville, Terry and Vickey of Edwardsville, and Marc and Theresa of Bethalto; a special daughter, Jane Biggerstaff of Sugar Hill, Ga.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Phyllis Cox of Bunker Hill.
Jean and her husband owned and operated Wood River Landscaping for 42 years. She enjoyed crappie fishing with Leto.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rebecca K. Metz.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following visitation.
