Jerry Lee Mott Sr., 79, of Pontoon Beach, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Belleville.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1935, in Edwardsville, a son to the late William R. and Evelyn Marie (Polis) Mott.
Jerry was the owner and operator of Mott Metal Spinning for 15 years and worked for G. Lighting Company, retiring in 2011. He volunteered his time for the bus ministry at Troy Assembly of God and in his free time enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jerry will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times he shared with his family.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Deloris (Harvey) Mott, whom he married on Nov. 18, 1955; his children, Jerry Lee Mott Jr. of Pontoon Beach, Angie and (Roger) Porter of Pontoon Beach, R.N. Pamela and (Robert) Gellen of Marion, David Mott of Pontoon Beach, Sam Mott of St. Louis, Jaclyn Mott and fiancé, Phil, of Pontoon Beach; sister, Patricia Sue and (William) Hoppe; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean Mott.
In celebration of his life, friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with Pastor Henry Crippen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
