Jerry Taylor Crawford, 71, of Bethalto, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 2:03 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born April 13, 1944, in Winchester, the son to the late Joseph and Nettie (Blyue) Crawford.
On Aug. 22, 1970, he and Dianne Y. Gerard were married in Alton. She survives in Bethalto.
Jerry was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He retired from Shell Oil as an operator after more than 30 years of service.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by a daughter, Nikki (Chad) Lurie of Los Angeles, Calif.; a son, Jeremy John Crawford of Rosewood Heights; a grandchild, Hayden Taylor; a sister, Maxine Grist of Sullivan, Mo.; and his loyal companion, Monk.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Robert, Donnie, Bill and Ray “Duke” Crawford.
Memorial visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Paynic Home for Funerals. Private interment with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks at a later date.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
