Jodie Ray White II, 56, of Granite City, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Granite City, the son to Yvonne (Albert) White of Glen Carbon and the late Jodie Ray White I.
On Jan. 26, 1979, he and Margaret Darlene Gilliam were married in Granite City. She survives in Granite City.
Ray was a millwright journeyman at Granite City Steel for 15 years, retiring in 1993. He loved motorcycles, fast cars, drag racing and working on motorcycles. He and Darlene were members of Calvary Life Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Sarah (Albert) Forrester of Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Elana White of Herculaneum, Mo.; six grandchildren, Hallie, Wyatt, Ella and Rhett Forrester, and Peyton and Lily White; two sisters, Jeanie Woodson and Vicky Davis of Edwardsville; sisters-in-law, Linda (David) Kessler and Melissa (Eric) Marcus, all of Granite City; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Iline Gilliam of Steelville, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerod Ray White; and a nephew, Evan Marcus.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Calvary Life Church with the Rev. Mark Maynard officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Skaggs Cemetery in Steelville, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
