John Junior Campbell, 87, of Wood River, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, peacefully in his sleep.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1927, in Arlington, S.D., to the late John and Ora (Graves) Campbell.
He married his wife, Barbara (Avramovich) Campbell, on Oct. 4, 1952, in Wood River. She survives.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, Teamster for Local 525, union truck driver for 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed deer hunting with his sons and brothers, umpiring, running beagles and field trials.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: their seven children, Timothy (Donna) Campbell, Ronald Campbell, Kathy (Ron) Boucher, Christine (Eliot) Gray, Barbara Campbell, Lisa Campbell, and Kirk Campbell; nine grandchildren, Brady (Niki) Arview, Josh (Holly) Campbell, Lindsay Campbell, Tara, Melissa, Jacob and Ryan Gray, Samantha Boucher and Kellen Campbell, seven great-grandchildren, Braden, Bryer and Bristol Arview, Reed and Gage Campbell, Avery Gray and Hunter Campbell and numerous nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, four sisters, Marie Wyhs, Opal Pyle, Marge McCormick and Louise Ayers; five brothers, Glen, Ralph, Donald, Douglas and Jerry Campbell; and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Heather Boucher.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, with Fr. James Flach officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Hills Cemetery.
