John Ralph Cox, 75, of Granite City, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Elvins, Mo., the son to Arthur and Catherine (nee: Barber) Cox.
John had worked at Granite City Steel as a millwright for over 33 years. He was a member of the VFW, AMVETS, American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by an endeared friend, Mary Martin of Granite City; two daughters, Angela Sweckard of Minier and Renee’ Cox of Carthage, N.C.; six sons, Glen Cox of Bremerton, Wash., Timothy Cox of Columbia, Tenn., Bryan Cox of Granite City, Mark Cox of Granite City, Daniel Cox of Granite City, and David Cox of Granite City; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon Cox of Garden City, Kan., Frank Smith of Belgrade, Mo., and Gene Cox of Aurosa, Mo.; three sisters, Della Thrasher of Granite City, Stella Galvin of Park Hills, Mo., and Norman Canal of Park Hills, Mo.
Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by a son, Michael Cox; and two brothers, Charles Cox and Raymond Barber.
Arrangements entrusted to Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
