Joseph Bozif, 97, of Granite City, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at The Altenheim in St. Louis.
He was born July 7, 1918, in Madison. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve; and two sisters, Mary and Ann.
Joseph was a pattern maker by trade and retired in 1982 from Arnette Pattern after 33 years of service. He also worked at General Steel and other shops. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during World War II and was one of the eldest members of the Amvets Post No. 204 in Madison. He is survived by a son, Mark Bozif of St. Louis; granddaughter, Jana Bozif of St. Louis; and nieces and nephews.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
