Joseph Glennon Marsala Sr., 86, of Granite City, died unexpectedly Monday, June 1, 2015, at Alton Memorial Hospital ER.
He was born June 8, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of the late Frank and Susie (Mastrogiacomo) Marsala.
On May 9, 1944, he and Mary (Kohn) were married in Little Rock, Ark. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2002.
Mr. Marsala was a real estate entrepreneur who owned and operated Marsala Rental in Madison. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon.
Survivors include five children and spouses, Karen and Leo Cook Sr. of Maryville, JoAnn Hahn of Glen Carbon, Frank and Sherry Marsala of Collinsville, Gary and Jennifer Marsala of Granite City and Mary Margaret and Julie Marsala of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph C. Marsala Jr.; son-in-law, Rudolph Hahn; two grandchildren, Kevin D. Cook and Victoria J. Marsala; and five brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
