Joseph Michael “Mike” Ragusa, 62, of South Roxana, passed away at 11:33 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1953, in Wood River, a son of Berneda (Cox) Ragusa of South Roxana and the late Joseph Ragusa. He married Regina “Jean” (Basden) Ragusa on June 9, 1991, in South Roxana and she survives.
Mike had worked for more than 20 years at Wood River Township Hospital in maintenance and retired from Blu-Fountain Nursing Home in Godfrey as a maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed his days of playing pool and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for the special times shared with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Shara McBride of Florida; a son, John Ragusa of Carlinville; two stepsons, Shawn (Amy) Allen of Wood River and Craig Allen of South Roxana; five grandchildren, Caitlin, Liam, Matthew, Haylee and Macy; a sister, Paula Crane of Jerseyville; mother-in-law, Betty Basden of Hartford; special cousin, John Ragusa; special nephew, Jim Carlisle; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Cox.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, where a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, with the Rev.
