Josephine Ceila Smith, 74, of Granite City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Van Buren, Mo., a daughter to the late Virgil P. and Nica V. (Glass) Wall Sr.
Josephine was a longtime administrative assistant, retiring from the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She spent countless hours playing pool in Terry Eddleman’s Pool League and the Metro East Pool League. Josephine will be remembered for her kind and loving heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by and will be missed by her children, Jackie Smith of Granite City, Lonnie and (Kimberly) Smith of Granite City, William and (Paula) Smith of Granite City, Michael and (Rochelle “Shelly”) Smith of Granite City; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and longtime companion, Albert Delaloye.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her sister; Phyllis M. Holtmann; and her brother, Jimmie P. Wall.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of her life services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at the funeral home with Brother Randall Cowin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
