Judith Lee “Judy” Knowlton, 58, of Granite City, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Red Bud, a daughter to the late Bernard and Elaine (Sullivan) Bigham.
Judy was a longtime truck driver for Federal Express and in her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by and will be missed by her husband, Richard “Rich” Knowlton, whom she married on March 7, 2014; her sons, Benjamin Eckert of Arnold, Mo., Phillip and (Renee’) Eckert of New Athens, Richard and (Barbara) Knowlton of Greeley, Colo., Joel and (Jaime) Knowlton of Bloomington, Tim Knowlton and (fiancée, Sarah) of Edwardsville; her daughters, Kathy Helzer of Hendersonville, Tenn., Laura Sovar of Florissant, Mo.; grandson, Preston Eckert; brothers, Bernard Bigham and Louis Bigham; sisters, Michele Dillow, Mary Rainey, Brenda Jaimet and Kate Bigham; and 19 stepgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her son, Norman Robert Eckert Jr.; and brothers, Michael Bigham, Gary Bigham and Patrick Bigham.
In celebration of Judy’s life, friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Central Baptist Church, 3940 State Route 111 in Pontoon Beach, with Pastor Wayne Musatics officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, is serving the family.
