Julia L. Range, 92, of Granite City, passed away at 9:41 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Wellesley Hill, Mass., a daughter of the late John C. and Marie (MacDonald) Lamb. She married LeRoy J. Range on May 23, 1945, at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granite City and he passed away on May 15, 2009. Julia retired in November 1982 from Christian Hospital and had also worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital and MO-PAC Hospital with many years of dedicated service to others as a registered nurse. She had a special love for animals and enjoyed her days of reading. Julia will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Judith and Bill Russell of Granite City and Donna Arnold of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Doris Range of Edwardsville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Bill and Candace Russell III, Matthew and Heather Russell, Amy and Matt Sheridan, Stephanie and Lance Khubchandi, Justin and Katie Range and Lauren Range; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Lamb Sr. of Massachusetts and Charles Lamb of California; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Jones; and two brothers, Alan Lamb and John Lamb.
In celebration of her life and in accordance to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave. in Granite City with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant. Private burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to the Granite City APA or a charity of one’s choice and may be accepted at the funeral home.
