Katherine M. “Kat” Nighohossian, 59, of Granite City, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015 at her home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1955, in Granite City, a daughter of Dona Carol (Kramer) Williams of Granite City and the late Renault “Tiny” Williams.
She married Haig Nighohossian on March 29, 2003, at the Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton and he survives. She had dedicated many years of service as a paralegal with several attorneys throughout the Metro-East and St. Louis areas. She had served on the board of the Community Care Center in Granite City and the Senior Olympics in St. Louis and had also worked as a switchboard operator with St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City. She had a special love of animals, always tried to help others and loved going to auctions. She enjoyed her days of gardening, sewing, quilting and antiquing. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and mother, she is survived by her stepchildren, Darrick Nighohossian and special friend, Tyla Whitlock, of Granite City, Cara and husband, Mike Nold, of New Orleans, La., Jeremy Nighohossian of Arlington, Va.; mother-in-law, Annid Nighohossian; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Casper Nighohossian, Sarkis Nighohossian, Leo and Barb Nighohossian and Greg and Vicki Nighohossian; aunt, Margaret Barchesky; cousins, Sherry Hall, Steve Simpson, Donnie James, Dennis Simpson, Wanda Clark, Nancy Booth and Mary Ruth Mash; special friends, Arshaelus Geragosian, Joe Schrage and Sara Grounds; other extended family and many dear friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Leila Percy.
In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with the Rev. Charles West officiating.
