Kenneth “Richard” Anderson, 69, of Granite City, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis. He was born on July 23, 1947, in Granite City, a son of the late Milton and Vera Anderson.
Richard was a United States Navy veteran who proudly served his country. On Sept. 6, 1975, Richard married Patricia Steiner, the love of his life, in Madison. Richard had retired from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department as a Sergeant after many years of dedicated service. After retiring as a deputy sheriff, Richard went to work for and retired from U.S. Steel in Granite City as a security officer. Richard enjoyed collecting antiques. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Richard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Tommy Anderson, William Anderson, Patricia Pool and Vanita Johnpeter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Anderson of Granite City; extended family and many dear friends.
Richard requested to be cremated and to have no services.
Memorial donations may be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to Granite City A.P.A.
