Laura L. Barnes, 93, of Wood River, passed away at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born in Alton on April 2, 1922, she was the daughter of Anthony and Sabina (Malone) Leone.
She had been the office manager for the firm of Wiseman, Hallet and Schakawitz for 25 years before retiring.
On July 17, 1976, in Wood River, she married Kenneth Barnes Sr. He died Dec. 2, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Jr. (Carol) Barnes of Mountain View, Mo., Robert Eugene Barnes of California, Leo J. (Rhonda) Militello Jr. of Jerseyville; three daughters, Janice, Judith Ann Militello of Phoenix, Ariz., Jeanette (Mark) Morrison of Indiana; five grandchildren, Shelly Barnes, Christina Thomerson, Cheryl, Cynthia and Christi; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, George and Joe Leone; and a sister, Jackie Leone.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father James Flach will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alton.
