LaVerne June Yeager, 89, of Bethalto, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Nov. 21, 1925, in Bethalto, the daughter of the late Erwinn K. and Wilhelmina J. (Humm) Apple.
She married Forest Lee Yeager on June 24, 1945, in Alton. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2004.
LaVerne was an estimator for Emerson Electric for 19 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society and LIFT. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard “Rick” and Nancy Yeager of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dr. David L. and Marjorie Yeager of Pomfret Center, Conn.; six grandchildren, Robert, Douglas, Brendan, Joel, Bradford and Merrit; 10 great-grandchildren; two nieces, JoAnn (Ron) Mullen of Godfrey and Patricia Yeager of Chicago; a nephew, Tom (Phyllis) Decker of Jerseyville; and a lifelong friend and uncle, Robert Humm of Bethalto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an aunt, Alice Hartley.
Visitation will be from noon until services at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Joe Richard officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto on Monday, March 30, 2015.
