Lavonne C. Collman, 77, of Rosewood Heights, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1937, in Madison County, the daughter of the late George Rolla and Eleanor Rose (Bloemker) Best.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy and Kevin Carr of Bethalto and Kim and Mitch Ulett of Bethalto; a daughter-in-law, Kim Collman of East Alton; five grandchildren, Victoria Collman, Christopher Collman, Jaclyn Carr, Jamie Carr and Jacob Ulett; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Garcia and Nadia Collman; and one sister and brother-in-law, Vida and James Knecht of East Alton.
Lavonne was employed as a registered nurse in the pediatric department at Alton Memorial Hospital for 40 years prior to her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Southwestern Illinois Hemerocallis Society and the Platinum Club at First MidAmerica Credit Union. She enjoyed watching the birds, traveling, sewing, gardening, snow skiing and tole painting. She loved to spend time with her family and called it fellowship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Collman; and one sister, Nelda Best.
In celebration of her life, memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be accepted at the funeral home.
