Lawrence A. Spencer, 55, of Madison, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 30, 1959, in St Louis, the son to the late Clair and Julia (Dolbow) Spencer.
Lawrence had been a painter for many years and also served in the United States Army. He loved fishing and NASCAR.
He is survived by three brothers, Charles (Karen) Spencer of St. Louis, John Spencer of California and Wayne (Amy) Spencer of Pennsylvania; sister, Madelyn (Dave Presswood) Spencer of Mitchell; seven nieces and nephews, Butch, Diane, Jennifer, Mindy, Stephanie, Charlie and Brittany; many great-nieces and nephews and caregiver and friend, Vicki Presswood of Granite City.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn Spencer and George Spencer; and a nephew, Charles “David” Spencer.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
