Lillian Ruebhausen (nee Giese), 110, of Granite City, born July 2, 1905, in Leavenworth, Kansas, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Edwardsville.
Ms. Ruebhausen was a homemaker, member of St. John United Church of Christ, St. John Hill Toppers, Madison County Senior Citizens, Gateway Senior Circle, Home Extension, Holiday Shores Garden Club and Vintage Garden Card Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alben and Mary, nee Hunner, Giese: husband, Ewald, whom she married September 11, 1924: son, Dean Ruebhausen; brothers, Albert, John, Francis, Charles, and Raymond Giese; and grandson, Lt. Gary Ruebhausen.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Joy) Ruebhausen of Highland, 111; sister, Arlene Jones of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Ron (Lori) Ruebhausen, Dave (Denise) Ruebhausen and Denet Pinta; great-grandchildren, Erin (Ryan) Hoepfner, Michael Ri1ebhausen, Justin (Elizabeth) Pinta, Nathan Ruebhausen, Chelsea Pinta and Whitney (Scott) Threinen; great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Hoepfner, Clara Hoepfner and Raylan Threinen; nephew, Jim (Annita) Giese; daughter-in-law, Verna Ruebhausen; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karla Frost officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.
