Linda Marie Morgan, 63, of Granite City, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Granite City, a daughter of Evelyn M. (Miller) Thompson of Granite City and the late William Dale Jones. She married Gary Alan Morgan Aug. 6, 1970, in Mitchell and he survives. She was a dedicated homemaker and was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved animals and cherished her dogs, Shatze and Buddy. She will be remembered for the love and dedication she had for her family and cherished the many special moments shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three sons, Christopher Morgan of Collinsville, Jason (Shelly) Morgan of Granite City and Brian (Amanda) Morgan of Mitchell; stepfather, Donald E. Thompson of Granite City; grandchildren, Christopher Morgan Jr. and Alex Morgan, twins, Shelby and James Morgan, Brenden Morgan, Anthony Parker Jr., Brian Morgan Jr., Courtney Morgan, Kara Morgan and Mercedes Morgan; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Paige and Emma; a brother, Lynn D. (Beth) Jones of Moro; a sister, Lisa and Chris Hillmer of Granite City; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, with Brother Lynn Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
