Lois “Mimi” Eileen Stauffer, 95, of Godfrey, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at United Methodist Village in Godfrey surrounded by her family.
She was born in Greenville, Ill., on March 1, 1920, the daughter of the late William Bryan and Grace A. (Hunter) Evans surrounded by her family.
She married Maurice E. Stauffer in Greenville on Dec. 24, 1938. He passed away on April 8, 2012.
Lois was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton for more than 70 years, being very involved with church activities. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, involved with the PTA and Home Bureau. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley and her spouse, Tom Hentrich of Godfrey, and Carole Cross of Alton; six grandchildren, Lisa (David) Berghoff, Bart (Dena) Hentrich, Craig (Lisa) Hentrich, Chad (Juanita) Cross, Kathy Peters and Richard (Belinda) Cross; nine great-grandchildren, Kristen and Eric Berghoff, Lynsey and Luke Hentrich, Abbey, Sam and Nate Hentrich and Alex and Dylan Cross; and one brother, Eugene Evans of California.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Cross; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Evans; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Goldie Stauffer.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Debra Hoertel will officiate.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Main Street United Methodist Church (Encounter Group) or BJC Hospice.
