Loren L. Madison, 79, of Pontoon Beach, died at 6:38 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Hartford, the son to the late Finis and Artrude (Berry) Madison.
Loren served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He retired from Granite City Steel in 1987 with 30 years of service. He was active in local politics for several years. He was Nameoki Township Highway Commissioner for eight years. He enjoyed water sports, especially boating.
He is survived by one daughter, Marsha (Ed) Wilkinson; three granddaughters, Trisha (Tom) Campbell, Kellie (Dan) Harrison and April Wilkinson, all of Granite City; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Selliers, Sterling, Sebastian and Sienna Campbell, also, all of Granite City; one sister, Pearl Madison, of Pontoon Beach; three brothers, Alvin (Phyllis) Madison of Tulsa, Okla., Floyd (Judy) Madison of Troy, and Donald Leroy (Hedy) Madison of Collinsville; one aunt, Winnie Madison of Alton; his friend and companion, Sandi York of Pontoon Beach; nieces, nephews, other extended family and many dear friends.
In addition to his beloved parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Carl Edgar Madison; a son, Donald Lee Madison; and his first wife, June (Full) Madison.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory, 3939 Lake Drive, Pontoon Beach, where services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, with Chaplain David Noble officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
