Louise Katherine Gwasdac, 90, of Granite City, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
She was born Oct. 12, 1924, in Madison, the daughter to the late Nikolai and Milka (Oukic) Mitalovich.
On April 1, 1944, she and Bernard Gwasdac were married. He preceded her in death June 10, 1987.
Louise was a retired federal employee and a very active member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Fred Winkler of Bridgeton, Mo.; four grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew, Kelly and Katherine Winkler; and a great-grandson, Jaden Pyle. She was also a very loving godmother and aunt.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nick, Jack and Stanley Mitalovich.
Memorial visitation will be from noon until services begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory in Granite City. Private inurnment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Stearns Nursing and Rehab Center, The Fountains of Granite City and Gateway Hospice for the compassionate, loving care they provided for Louise.
