Lucia M. Lewis, 88, of Plainview, passed away at 4:21 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, on July 15, 1927, the daughter of the late Guadalupe and Jacinia (Rosado) Vasquez.
On Aug. 9, 1960, she married Ray Lewis in Granite City.
Lucia was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and most of all taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Rose (Jason) Meyer of Rockbridge and Mark (Sarah) Lewis of Alton; daughter-in-law, Tammy Lewis of Plainview; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Ezra) Boyd, Lacey (Joe) Hoagland, Amber (Ryan) Walls, Paul Jr. (Ashley) Lewis, and Madeline, Martha, Peter and John Lewis; six sisters; five brothers; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray and a son, Paul Lewis.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
