Lucille L. Thompson, 71, of Edwardsville, died at 6:31 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at University Nursing and Rehab Center in Edwardsville.
She was born Oct. 24, 1944, in Granite City, the daughter of the late Imogene Lischmann. Lucille worked as a nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Granite City for 15 years. She spent the next 15 years at Saint Louis University Hospital as a registered nurse. She married Elmer Yarber on March 30, 1963, in Wood River. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1966.
Lucille is survived by one daughter, Traci L. Thompson of Edwardsville; and two sisters, Marilyn Lindley of Pocahontas and Marian Gross of De Soto, Mo.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori A. Yarber; a son, Michael A. Yarber; and one sister, Sandy Wright.
Lucille graduated from Edwardsville High School and from the school of nursing at Lewis & Clark Community College with her nursing degree.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Brooks officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville at a later date. The family request memorials to Partners for Pets.
