Lynn E. Shaw of Godfrey passed away at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Anderson Hospital after a two-year battle with cancer and his sister by his side.
Lynn just celebrated his 56th birthday this past Christmas.
He was born in Burbank, Calif., the son of the late Lois Lawson and Fred Shaw.
Lynn was a Pipeline Operator at the Conoco Pipeline Terminal for 10 years. He had a great love for all animals. He graduated Alton High with the class of 1978.
He is survived by two sisters, Jamie (Craig) Greer of Godfrey and Debra Hedger of Texas; two nephews, Jake Van Allman and his daughter, Luca of Alton, and Matthew (Monica) Hedger and their son, Will; a niece, Krystal Van Allman (Josh) Coggins and their children, RaeLeigh Beyers, Max, and Lucas of Brighton; two half-brothers, Fred (Jerilyn) Shaw and their son, Jason, of Wood River, and Brent Shaw and his sons, Jacob, Cody, Kaleb, Justin and Layton of Mesa, Ariz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Lawson, and his grandmother, Dorothy Benecke, both of Alton; and his beloved dog, Murphy.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Burial will be private at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Vitas Hospice and the third-floor nurses and staff at Anderson Hospital in Maryville for the excellent care and comfort they had given to Lynn.
