Mable Louise Sitton, 87, of Godfrey, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Starke, Fla., the daughter of Emmitt and Maggie Mae (Oglesby) Adkins.
She married Harold “Smokey” Sitton on Oct. 24, 1948, in Jacksonville, Fla., and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sitton retired from Olin Corp. after 22 years as a machine operator. She was a former member of the Calvary Southern Baptist Church, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post No. 1308 in Alton. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Titchenal, and Karen and Chris Brueggeman; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Sitton, and Daniel and Debbie Sitton; a brother and a sister-in-law, Bill and Louise Adkins; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Harold “Smokey”; she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph W. Sitton; her parents; four brothers, Earl Adkins, James Adkins, Lawrence Adkins and Ulysses Adkins; and three sisters, Iva Petty, Letha Hallman and Kitty Cox.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain David Heyen officiating.
Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beverly Farm.
