Mack Hager, 67, of Granite City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Ironton, Ohio, to Ruford D. and Martha Loraine (nee Thompson) Hager Sr.
Mack married Brenda Sue Steel April 16, 1992, in Granite City.
Mack served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 307 in Granite City and attended Grace Baptist Church in Granite City. After 27 years he retired from Granite City Steel in Granite City.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Hager of Granite City; three daughters, Donna (Mike) Doty of Granite City, Linda (Todd) Herrein of Granite City and Judith (James) Vancardo of Columbia, Ill.; two sons, David (Debbie) Hager and William (Theresa) Horn, both of Granite City; seven grandchildren, Dustin Allen, Josh Vanfleet, Cheyanna Little Star Durant, Joseph Ziecker, Brandon Hager, Jacklynn Southerland and Cherish Horn; one great-grandchild, Payton Vanfleet; seven brothers, Ruford (Sharon) Hager Jr. of Huntington, W.V., Daniel (Sharon) Hager of Luling, La., Jack (Jenny) Hager of Ironton, Ohio, Ron Hager of Ironton, Ohio, and Rick Hager of Ironton, Ohio, Walter Hager of Ironton, Ohio, and Nathaniel (Charlyn) Hager of Hagerhill, Ky.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, with funeral service at noon Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Wojstrom Funeral Home and Crematory in Granite City.
