Margaret J. Coles, 79, of Godfrey, passed away at 8:47 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1935 in Kent, England.
She married George Morris Boyd, who preceded her in death.
Margaret married the love of her life “Larry” Coles in Las Vegas, who also preceded her in death.
Margaret was a member of St. Ambrose Church, where she was part of the choir. She was a volunteer at the Caravan on Broadway in Alton and a volunteer Grandparent at St. Ambrose reading to the kids. She also volunteered at St. Anthony’s and at Alton Memorial Hospital. Margaret belonged to a book club “Old Friends and New” and enjoyed golfing, especially at Lockhaven Golf Course, where she was a member.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dayna Boyd of Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Sue Meisenheimer of Kirksville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Travis Meisenheimer, Tara (Eric) Vice, Laura Mitchum, Levi (Melissa) Boyd, Jennifer Boyd and fiancé, Ron; and 10 great-grandchildren, Sydney, Trinity, Trenton, Tristan, Ashley, Riley, Kaitlyn, Sylis, Brooke and Piage.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Pohlman officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
