Margaret L. Graham, 96, of Edwardsville, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Granite City, the daughter of the late George Walter and Zella Sylvania (Willoughby) Mathenia. Margaret came from a large family and was the only daughter and last living of her eight brothers. She had married Stanley Walter Barylske and they had divorced. She later married Robert O. Graham and he passed away on Sept. 18, 2009. She was a beauty operator for more than 50 years and had owned and operated Orchid Beauty Shop in Granite City. She later was a school bus driver with the Granite City School District for nine years. She loved her days of going to garage sales and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, JoAnne and Thomas Taff of Meppen, Ill., and Joyce Sikora of Edwardsville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Chip King of Granite City, Daniel Taff of Arnold, Mo., Laura and Dan Greenmay of Maryville, Kathryn and Philip Grippi of Glen Carbon and Michael and Kim Sikora of Highland; 17 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Zachary, Bella, Philip, Morgan, Kate, Nick, Amy, Thomas, Charlie, Emily, Maggie, Josh, Christopher, Matthew, Will and Zachary; five great-great-grandchildren, Ahran, Aiden, Layne, Keeley and Carly; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Mike Sikora; two grandchildren, William and Thomas Scott Taff; granddaughter-in-law, Mary Toothill; and eight brothers, Forrest, George, Louis, Gerald, Eugene, James, Robert and Walter.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be 1 p.m. until time of memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
