Marguerite Kay (Keasler) Lawson, 75, of East Alton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, at her residence.
Born April 8, 1940, in Alton, she was the daughter of Frank and Mae Marguerite (Wassman) Keasler.
Marguerite received her Radiological Technologist training from Jewish Hospital in St. Louis; then was employed and retired from Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. While working, she received her associate’s degree from the University of Louisville, obtained her bachelor’s degree in music from Judson University in Elgin, Ill.; then her master’s degree in music from Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.; she was a past president of the Kentuckiana Society of Radiological Technologist.
She served as choir director and alto section leader at the Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Louisville for eight years; was a member of the Kentucky Opera Association; a “Kentucky Colonel”; choir member and past president of the United Methodist Women at the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton.
She is survived by her brother, Phillip (Sue) Keasler of East Alton; sister-in-law, Sharon Garrett of Marion, Ky.; former husband, William Lawson of Marion, Ky.; nieces, Emily (Mark) Zipprich and Kim (Drew) Scarbrough; nephews, Luke and Joe Garrett; and great-nieces, Teagan Zipperich and Cora Scarbrough.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and two brothers, Frank William and Hal Herdis Keasler.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the 1st United Methodist Church in East Alton. The Rev. Bill Pyatt will officiate.
Burial will follow in Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church of East Alton’s “Big Wednesday Program.”
