Marian E. Watson, 86, of Granite City, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born Sept. 16, 1929, in East Chicago, Ind., a daughter of the late Edward and Violet (Harvey) Monahan. Marian had worked in accounting with beauty supply and sales, as a teacher’s aide helping children with Chapter 1 reading and service in many ways with Community Care. She was a longtime dedicated and faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church in Granite City, where she had served as a deacon, mariner and volunteered with Vacation Bible School. She had a love of animals and cherished her two cats.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Robert Householder of Granite City; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Rosalie Watson of Granite City; three grandchildren and spouse, Scott and Tabithia Yokley of Granite City, Kimberlie Yokley of Granite City and Tiffany Watson of St. Charles, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Perry and Derrick Yokley; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Yokley; a sister, Violet Monie; and a brother, Edward Monahan.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, with the Rev.
