Marian F. Avedisian, 86, of Granite City, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, Ill.
She was born June 10, 1929, in Madison, Ill., a daughter of the late Steve and Barbara F. (Crnkovich) Dudak. She retired from the United States Government as a supervisor and clerk with many years of Civil Service. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City and was active with the funeral luncheon committee. She enjoyed her days of reading and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Katia Avedisian of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stephen and Vicki Avedisian of Millstadt, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Phyllis Dudak of Granite City; niece, Mary Niemczyk of Phoenix, Ariz.; many other special nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Dudak, Illene “Nonnie” Niemczyk and Stephanie Dudak.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City with a prayer service at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant. Burial will be Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
