Marion Gayle Gilley, 77, of Granite City, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab Center, Granite City, with his loving family at his side.
She was born on September 15, 1936 in St. Joseph, a son to the late Roy Marion and Clara D. (Houston) Gilley.
On June 15, 1959, Marion married Jo-Ann Gonza, the love of his life, in East St. Louis.
Marion had worked at Royal Crown Cola as a traffic manager in Granite City and Pepsi Corporation in Warrenton, MO, as a truck driver before retiring at the age of fifty. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Armenian Church in Granite City. Marion was also a 50 year member of Beacon Masonic Lodge # 3 in St. Louis, MO and was a Shriner at Ainad Temple in East St. Louis. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and riding his 1976 Bi-Centennial Harley. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he adored. Marion will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Marion was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Glenn Gilley; and his granddaughter, Katrina Gilley.
Marion is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jo-Ann Gilley of Granite City; five dear children, Colleen (Paul) Berends of Edwardsville, Toney “Too Tall” Gilley of Granite City, John Marion Gilley of Granite City, Michael Gilley of Jefferson City, MO and Kathleen (Gary)Harris of Glen Carbon; sister, Norma (Cecil) Ketchum of Creve Coeur, MO; brother, Paul Houston Gilley of Granite City; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; niece and nephews and friends.
Services were through Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
