Marjorie L. Brown, 90 of Dorsey, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Thursday, Feb. 19, 1925, in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Goldie (nee Ewart) Garner.
On Sunday, Oct. 26, 1941, she married Marion F. "Pop" Brown.
She was a member of Moro Presbyterian Church, Moro; former member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was born at Bedford, Iowa, and grew up in southwest Iowa. After marriage she and her husband moved to California because he was in the U.S. Marine Corps. After the war, WWII, they lived in Alton. She owned and operated Marge's Beauty Shop in East Alton. They later moved to Dorsey in 1974. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia L. (Philip) Dennis of Edwardsville and Diane L. (Donald) Schmid of Edwardsville; a son, Bruce A. (Janice) Brown of Moro; seven grandchildren, Michael (Melinda) Dennis of Edwardsville, Lynelle (Josh) Jolliff of Troy, Lance (Megan) Brown of Dorsey, Lynn (Patrick) Kampmann of Edwardsville, Pia (Edwin) Smith of Denver, Colo., Lisette Dennis of St. Louis and Philip (Sharon) Dennis II of St. Louis; 12 great-grandchildren, Jayden and Miles Dennis, Abby and Ellie Jolliff, Tatum Brown, Alex (Angela) and Danielle Smith, and Philip III, Paige and Chase Dennis; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Amari Smith; two brothers, Marvin (Sue) Garner of Dixon, Mo., and Gerald (Kathy) Garner of Clarinda, Iowa; a sister; Jeanne Newbury of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Goldie (nee Ewart) Garner; husband, Marion F. "Pop" Brown (died July 30, 2013) and brother, Edwin Garner.
Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel, with the Rev. Jerry Amiri, Pastor, Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, officiating.
Interment will be at Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery in Hamel.
