Martin J. Ramirez
Martin J. Ramirez, 79, of Alton, went to be with the Lord at 5:18 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1935, in Alton, the son the late Celistino and Goldie (Comley) Ramirez.
He was formerly married to Margaret Hesh, who passed away in 1982; and Debi Weiss, who survives in Wood River.
Martin was employed at CVS throughout the area in the shipping/receiving department and as an assistant manager for 35-plus years. He was a member of the Alton Eagles and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He enjoyed watching old movies and football, listening to old records, and cooking.
He is survived by six children and their spouses, Todd A. and Linda Ramirez of Edwardsville, Mark A. and Tammie Ramirez of Moro, Craig M. and Jennifer Ramirez of South Roxana, Debra A. Ramirez of Wood River, Anthony J. and Erika Ramirez of Piasa and Nicholas L. Ramirez of Troy; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Henri Ramirez of Godfrey.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Valentine Ramirez and Aniceto “Shorty” Ramirez.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Cremation rites will follow and inurnment will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
