Mary Ann Brackett, 91, of Granite City, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at her home with her family at her side while under hospice care.
She was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Missouri to the late Garvey and Marie (Brown) Dyer.
On July 5, 1941, she and Dale Brackett were married in St. Charles, Mo. They celebrated 44 years of marriage until his passing on Oct. 19, 1985.
Mrs. Brackett had been a retail clerk for both Leader’s Department Store and Marilyn’s Bridal Store as well as a bookkeeper for Tri City Motors in Granite City.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny (Joseph) Rojas of Granite City; a son, Thomas “Thom” (Lynne) Brackett of Elmhurst, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jeff (Janice) Rojas, Katie (Kit) Meinke, Meredith Brackett and Miller Brackett; two great-grandchildren, Chianne Marlow and Samantha Rojas, one great-great grandchild, Kenlee; two brothers, William (Inez) Dyer of Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., and David (Shirley) Dyer of Springfield, Mo., and two sisters, Donna Watson of Granite City and Pam Wyard of Colorado.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Monica Rojas; two brothers, Sam and Doyle Adams; three sisters, Mildred Howard, Wanda Bell and Doris George; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Watson; and her husband’s siblings and family, Ella Belle and Litten Joyce, Thelma and Charles Spellbring and Bea and Leland “Bunk” Brackett.
