Mary Ann Cummings, 83 of Jerseyville, passed away at 11:56 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Willow Rose Nursing & Rehabilitation, with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 15, 1932, to the late Lester and Marie A. (Austin) Whyers in Brighton, Ill.
Mary attended Alton High School and after graduating, became employed at Alton Glass Works, where she worked for several years, before moving to Brighton in 1965. She was known for her beautiful crocheting and embroidery work. Mary was also known for her captivating smile, her contagious laugh, her candor and a keen sense of humor. She had a lifelong love of animals and all things Elvis Presley and Andy Griffith. Mary loved music and was a beautiful dancer. In her younger years, her Charleston was a sight to behold.
Survivors include four daughters, Janet and Mike Harvey of Hartford, Deb and Douglas Eyers of Brighton, Karen Cummings of Godfrey, Cheryl and Bill Brock of Carrollton; two sons, Michael Cummings of Wood River and Steven Cummings of Wood River; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister and her spouse, Alice & Harold Wright of Godfrey; one niece and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judy Criscione.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at the funeral home. The Rev. Tim Sorensen will officiate.
Burial will take place at the Ingersol Cemetery in rural Madison County.
Memorials may be given to the Willow Rose Nursing Home Activity Fund or the Diabetes Association.
