Mary F. (Lind) Curtin, 77, of Alton, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
She was born in Alton on Nov. 24, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Alice Ruth (Honeyman) Lind.
On Nov. 23, 1957, she married John “Phil” Phillip Curtin in Munich, Germany. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1995.
Mary was known to many as a great mentor who loved talking and lived with great grace and forgiveness. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, writing, drawing, painting, and the scenic drives down the Great River Road.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Perry and Denese Curtin of East Alton; a daughter, Polly Curtin of Alton; five grandchildren, Michael Jewell, Malkayla and her husband, Jesse Spears; Nathaniel Curtin, Lucas Henry, and Livia Neal; two sisters and their husbands, Jane and Neal Schwartzkopf, and Pat and Rich Gvillo; and one sister-in-law, Lila Lind.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Lind; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lind.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Kenneth Steffen officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Saints Peter and Paul School Scholarship Fund.
