Mary Lovell Cuppett, 88, of Edwardsville, formerly of Granite City, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at University Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Edwardsville.
Mary was born on May 22, 1927, in Murray, Ky., a daughter to the late Dempsey W. and Lois E. (Kirk) Jones. Mary was a lifelong homemaker and mom who enjoyed quilting and giving to her family. She was a member of the Collinsville First Church of the Nazarene and will be remembered for the love she had for the Lord and her family.
She is survived by and will be missed by her sons, Duwayne and (Sherry) Cuppett of Branson, Mo., Daniel and (Jackie) Cuppett of Union, Mo., and Stephen and (Valerie) Cuppett of Glen Carbon; sisters, Dorothy McCoy of Granite City, and Faye and (Gene) Hull of Granite City; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Cuppett Jr., whom she married Nov. 1, 1946; and two brothers, Billy G. Jones and Robert W. Jones.
Friends called Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of Mary’s life, services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
