Mary “Mimi” Smith, 43, of Granite City, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1971, in Granite City, the daughter of the late Flarce “Bill” and Wilma Joan (Jameson) Warfield. She married James Smith Sept. 23, 2011, and he passed away Dec. 18, 2014.
Mary worked as an OB charge nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights, Mo., with many years of dedicated service as a registered nurse. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Calvary Life Church in Granite City and enjoyed her days of traveling. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Debbie Warfield of Kansas City, Mo.; eight nieces and nephews, Mandie Warfield, Jonah Warfield, Hannah Warfield, Samuel Warfield, Evan Warfield, Daniel Warfield, Jonathan Warfield and Josiah Warfield; her cherished basset hound, Bonnie; other extended family and many friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015, at Calvary Life Church, 4650 Maryville Road in Granite City with the Rev. Mark Maynard officiating. Lunch will follow service and graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Coffeen.
