Maryann Miller, 82, of Maryville, died at 6:58 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1932, in Inkster, Mich., the daughter of the late John L. and Edna M. (Hawkin) Heberer. Maryann worked for Northwestern Bank in St. Louis as a clerk, Edwardsville School District 7 as a cook, ACT as a money counter, and then at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, where she worked as a cook for 20 years before retiring. She married Bobbie G. Miller in St. Louis in 1953. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2005.
Maryann is survived by one son, David Miller, and wife, Mari Jo, of Rincon, Ga.; two daughters, Nancy Barrett and husband, Joe, of Alton, and Mary Louise Suermann and husband, Neil, of Glen Carbon; eight grandchildren, Jon-Erik Suermann and wife, Nicole, Bobby Miller and wife, Jenny, Sgt. Nicholas Miller and wife, Ayla-Marie, Gwendolyn Barrett, Timothy Barrett and fiancée, Krista Brown, Edward Barrett, Monica Bundy and husband, Joe, and Melissa Suermann; four great-grandchildren, Cecelia and August Suermann, Jacob Bundy and Sienna Miller; two brothers, Jerry Heberer and wife, Amanda, of De Soto, Mo., Paul Heberer and wife, Ramona of Florissant, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Jutta Heberer of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Maryann was a member of the American Legion Post 199 women’s auxiliary; she was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and was a contributor to Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Funeral service was Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at the funeral home with Monsignor Kenneth Steffen officiating.
