Matthew E. DeWeese, (Buffalo), 17, of Livingston, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. Matt was born on May 15, 1998, in Alton, a son to Eric DeWeese and Mary Griffith.
Matt was a very caring and well-loved young man who went out of his way to help his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed dirt bike riding and working on vehicles. His future plans after he graduated from Staunton High School in May was to work in the construction field with heavy equipment. Matt was an honor student, he was also a member of the FFA and was a senior at Staunton High School. He kept himself very busy between school and working at McDonald in Staunton. Matt loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family and hanging out with his friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lester DeWeese.
Matt is survived by his loving parents, Mary Griffith of Staunton and Eric DeWeese of Livingston; two brothers, David DeWeese and William Seneczyn; grandparents, Shirley DeWeese, and Frank and Marilyn Griffith; aunts, Cheryl Harper, Valarie (Kevin) Hendrick, Nancy (Tom) Kurilla and Jennifer Griffith; uncle, Brian Griffith; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating. Interment will be in Spangle Cemetery, Livingston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
