Maxine Elizabeth Powell, 92, of Granite City died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
She was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Kennett, Mo., to the late Herschel and Millie (Davis) Clark.
On Dec. 2, 1942, she and Louis Earl Powell were married in Kennett. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2009.
Mrs. Powell retired from the shirt factory in Kennett and was also a member of the First of Assembly of God in Kennett.
She is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Don Rebstock of Maryville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Kristi (Todd) Glasgow, Kerri Pauley and Brittany Powell; seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Potts, Whitney (Josh) Jackson, Kendall Glasgow, Chase, Trenton, Channing and Kimberly Pauley and a sister, Sybil (Orville) Alsup of Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Tom Powell, and a grandson, Scott Rebstock.
No public services are scheduled and she will be laid to rest by her husband at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
