Michael “Sandman” Dodd, 51, of Bethalto, passed away at 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 15, 1963, in Wood River, the son of the late Donald and Gloria (Kennedy) Dodd.
Michael was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and worked as an auto mechanic for Kinder Auto Repair. He was also a member of the Bluff City Motorcycle Club, loved to play in a dart league, bowling league and a pool league.
He is survived by his a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lacey Dodd of Bethalto; a daughter, Emily Booth of Alton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Godwin of Alton, Marie and Lester Schutz of Cottage Hills, Mylinda and Robert Butler of Jerseyville, and Matthew Dodd of Fosterburg; four grandchildren, Heather Lynn and Morgan Booth, MacKenzie and Gabriel Dodd; and two nieces and two nephews, Chad Doellman, Katherine Flatt, Amanda Schutz and Joshua Schutz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, with Fr. Jim Walther officiating.
Inurnment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.
