Michael Alan Knapp
Michael Alan Knapp, 53, of Granite City, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
He was born Sept. 20, 1960, in Granite City, a son of William N. and Thelma Rella (Rudnicki) Knapp of Granite City.
He married Judith A. (Borth) Knapp on Oct. 9, 1993, at Tri-City Assembly of God Church in Granite City and she survives.
Michael had worked for Lou Fusz Automotive in St. Louis with many years of service as an auto mechanic. He was also the founder and co-operator of Re.viv.al Gifts and Antiques in downtown Granite City. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Harvest Community Church in Granite City, where he served as a board member and deacon and enjoyed singing with the Praise Team. He was a fan of NASCAR, enjoyed his days of motorcycle riding and was an avid collector of guns. He loved his days of traveling and cherished the times on the beach with his family and friends and taking the fall trips to Branson and the Ozarks. He loved all of his four-legged children and loved his chubby little beagle, Holly.
In addition to his beloved and cherished wife and parents, he is survived by a brother, William Knapp of Granite City; other extended family and many cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Ruth Knapp and Joseph and Elma Rudnicki; and a special uncle, Dennis Cooper.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Visitation will continue at Harvest Community Church, 4598 Highway 162 in Granite City, on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roy Boyer, Rev. Barry Shepherd and Rev. Rufus Valencia officiating.
Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City.
